The Transcontinental Persistent Archive Platform, led by the San Diego Supercomputer Center, involves a collaboration between SDSC, the University of Maryland, and the National Archives. The goal of this project is to demonstrate support for automation of archival processes through use of data grid technology, which includes the development and testing of technologies on a distributed prototype between the three main sites (NARA, SDSC, and UMD). We have made major contributions in building and testing the prototype infrastructure as well as the development of a number of significant technologies.
