This project uses the Crafting Room in the Sandbox Makerspace. In this project I am attempting to create pillows for the yellow chairs in the Sandbox because the seats hurt my butt :( This project was done by Naomi Stewart with help from Astha Singhal.
Preparation
Major tools
- Singer Simple Model 3232
Minor tools
- Bobbin
- Needles
- Scissors
- Pins
Consumables
- Poly-fil
- Thread
- Fabric
Process
This is a very vague guide to how I began my project.
- First I chose a fabric and traced the shape of the pillow I wanted to make. The fabric was folded so I could have two pieces of the same shape of fabric for my pillow. I traced this with a sharpie marker but I think we should get fabric markers for the crafting room.
- Secondly, I cut out my two pieces of fabric. I cut them both out at the same time, then pinned them together so that I could begin hand sewing the first two sides. Note, two sides are to be hand-sewed and the other two sides will be done with the Singer Simple 3232. This gives us a little practice with two different methods of sewing.
