Overview
The Formlabs Form 2 is a desktop resin 3D printer from Formlabs, a manufacturer with headquarters in Massachusetts.
Formlabs’ Form 2 is the latest version of the Form 1, the manufacturer’s first 3D printer. The Formlabs Form 2 offers a bigger build volume than its predecessor and features a more powerful laser.
Formlabs now manufactures the Form 3 and Form 3L.
This resin 3D printer uses Stereolithography (SLA) technology. The Form 2 uses a laser to selectively harden liquid resin and 3D print an object, layer after layer. This technology allows for a very high level of detail and is compatible with different resins. These resins can be Standard, Castable, Flexible or Tough according to users’ needs.
The Formlabs Form 2 offers:
- a slide peel: to lower peel forces and reduced wear on the resin tank;
- a resin wiper: to improve print consistency by removing any particulates from the build area;
- a heated resin tank: to achieve optimal print conditions by maintaining a consistent internal temperature of 35°C.
Training
Online training for the Formlabs Form 2 3D printer is not yet available in our ELMS/Canvas course. To use this machine work one-on-one with Sandbox staff. The Formlabs manuals are linked below and Formlabs has several helpful videos online. Note that watching videos or reading the manual does not constitute completion of training
