If you're willing to pick the order up at the local store you can avoid paying shipping charges. For example, Home Depot doesn't stock hardwood plywood with walnut or cherry veneers but they do sell these on the web site and will deliver the order to the local store at no charge. As always its best to comparison shop at other local in-stock plywood sellers.

Home Center stores such as Home Depot and Lowes offer aggressive pricing on a wide range of building materials and tools. Their selection of certain items (such as hardwood lumber and hardwood plywood) can be frustratingly limited (it's a good idea to use their web sites to verify their inventory).

Another helpful use of the homedepot.com and lowes.com web sites is for ordering items not stocked in the local store. If you're willing to pick the order up at the local store you can avoid paying shipping charges. For example, Home Depot doesn't stock hardwood plywood with walnut or cherry veneers but they do sell these on the web site and will deliver the order to the local store at no charge. As always its best to comparison shop at other local in-stock plywood sellers.
