Depending on the environment you'll be working in, you have two primary choices for mail. You can decide on our PC based solution [[ExchangeEmail|Microsoft Exchange Email]] or a [[UNIXEmail|IMAP Email]] solution. A UMIACS account includes a username@umiacs.umd.edu e-mail address that forwards to your directoryid@umd.edu e-mail address.

If you are accustomed with Microsoft Outlook and/or need a shared calendar then we offer the UMIACS Exchange service.

Our IMAP service is available as a secure multi-platform way of reading your mail.  It provides powerful server-side mail filtering.  You can configure you own client or use our [[Webmail]] server to read your email.
UMIACS has deployed spam firewalls into our mail infrastructure to provide additional virus and spam filtering capabilities.

UMIACS E-mail Offerings

A UMIACS account includes a username@umiacs.umd.edu e-mail address that forwards to your directoryid@umd.edu e-mail address.

If your UMIACS account was closed within the last year, we can provide forwarding for this address (username@umiacs.umd.edu) up until one year from the date that the account was closed upon request only.
