Application Resources are authentication groups that allow us to mix and match onsite users (those with full UMIACS accounts) with offsite users (people at other institutions) when controlling access to a variety of applications.
This allows users of these ApplicationResources to mix both UMIACS users and off-site users that do not necessarily have a UMIACS account.
The services that utilize this for now are,
- Subversion repos
- Wikis
- Web servers maintained by staff that require fine-grained authentication and authorization
Our users can modify and update Application Resource membership using the ApplicationResourceUtil located here.
