UMIACS will be winding down its mailbox Email services by June 30th 2020 to comply with the UMD Institutional Email standard. This includes both our Exchange and IMAP Email service offerings.
The Division of IT is handling the migration for some individuals that currently forward their UMD mail to their UMIACS mailbox. We sent an email to all users that are covered by this on May 1st 2020 with the subject line "UMIACS Email Migration".
If you did not receive this email, you will need to instead perform the following steps as soon as you are comfortable receiving email to your UMD mailbox, but no later than June 1st 2020:
Procedure
- Log into our Directory app.
- Make note of what email option you are currently using under the 'Email' section. This will be either Exchange, IMAP, or Forward.
- Continue below based on what email option you are currently using:
Exchange
- Change the drop down menu option to Forward and enter your @umd.edu email address (yourdirectoryid@umd.edu) in the text box directly below it. If you do not have a @umd.edu email address, enter the address you would like to receive UMIACS email at.
- Click Submit at the bottom of the page.
- Continue checking email as you currently do until you receive a message (a short time later) from UMIACS staff stating that all mail will now be sent to your UMD mailbox. After you receive this message, begin checking new email at your UMD Gmail mailbox.
- Contact staff if you would like an archive of your UMIACS mailbox.
IMAP
- Change the drop down menu option to Forward and enter your @umd.edu email address (yourdirectoryid@umd.edu) in the text box directly below it. If you do not have a @umd.edu email address, enter the address you would like to receive UMIACS email at.
- Click Submit at the bottom of the page.
- Begin checking new email at your UMD Gmail mailbox.
- Contact staff if you would like an archive of your UMIACS mailbox.
Forward
- Change the listed address under Forward to be your UMD email address (yourdirectoryid@umd.edu) if it is not already. If it is already or you do not have a @umd.edu email address, no further action is required.
- Click Submit at the bottom of the page.
- Begin checking new email at your UMD Gmail mailbox if you just changed the address.
