====AVW Power outage this weekend====
 
UMD Facilities Management has scheduled a power outage for the north side of the AV Williams Building, (the x3xx and x4xx wings of the building). for this Saturday, running from 7:30am until 3:00pm.<br>

In advance of this downtime the UMIACS Technical staff will be shutting down the data center located in the effected part of the building at 5:30pm on Friday 1/11, and will be rebooting them saturday afternoon before 5pm. This data center includes the vnode visualization cluster as well as some other assorted machines. A complete list of user effecting machines outside of the vnode cluster that will be affected is included at the bottom of this email. No major UMIACS services should be effected by this downtime. Staff does not at this time plan to take any actions for machines in the effected portions of the building, but in the data center.<br>

Network Installation in AVW 33XX/34XX Next Week

Contractors from FiberPlus will begin work next week to upgrade the ethernet wiring on the third floor in the 33XX and 34XX wings of the A.V. Williams building. Please be aware that they will be working in and around this area, we apologize for any inconvenience this causes for you. These upgrades are to replace the old Cat3 wiring currently being used in these offices, and will pave the way for more reliable and faster network service for users in the near future. (Dec 14, 2007)
