Before requesting a UMIACS account, any prospective UMIACS account holder needs to already hold a UMD account, consisting of a UMD directory ID and associated passphrase. Their UMIACS account will have the same username as the directory ID and also use the same passphrase for authentication, once it is installed.
- TERPmail accounts are separate from UMD accounts - these accounts are used for student email and exist in perpetuity after a student graduates from UMD, but are not sufficient for holding UMIACS accounts.
