Pawn:Pawn Validation Tools
From Adapt
Description from proposed work
We plan in the next phase of this project to incorporate verification services into PAWN once the custody of the SIP is transferred to the archive. These services include verification of the content of a SIP, format validation and integrity checking, virus scanning, and completeness checking. We will develop tools to enable the creation of a preservation plan, arrangement of the submitted records in the archival hierarchy, and the completion of the accessioning process. We also need to deal with the extraction of descriptive metadata to enable ease of access by users as well as with the creation of an AIP to be ingested into the archive. All these tools will be incorporated within the PAWN release expected by the end of FY07.
Changes Required to PAWN
- Interface to register validation resources similiar to archival resources
- Logging interface for tools (allow tools to log events into pawn packages)
- develop a set of sample, standard tools... (ala jhove, etc..)
